Funeral services for Esterlene Susie Wilson James, 88, formerly of Trigg County, were held Saturday, January 1, 2011 at Gamble Funeral Home in Hopkinsville. The Rev. Harley Watkins officiated. Burial followed at Cave Spring Cemetery.

Mrs. James died at 12:20 a.m. Tuesday, December 28, 2010 at Jennie Stuart Medical Center.

She was born May 8, 1922 in Trigg County to the late Garrett Wilson and Estella Weathers Wilson.

She retired from the Christian County Public School System where she was employed as a custodial worker. She was a member of the Gracey Baptist Church where she served on the mother’s board as well as an usher board member.

She was preceded in death by her husband Samson Jones.

Survivors include four sisters, Melmarion Queen, Ellen Chathey and Mattie Dillard, all of Louisville, and Bessie Foley of Dayton, Ohio; one brother, Ben Wilson of Louisville; one son, Thomas James of Hopkinsville; one daughter, Patricia Poindexter of Hopkinsville; seven grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren.
