Funeral services for Ramon Lee “Doc” Turner, 79, of Murray, were held Saturday, January 8, 2011 at Northside Baptist Church in Murray. The Rev. Brett Miles officiated. Burial followed at Murray Memorial Gardens. Blalock-Coleman and York Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

Mr. Turner died at 12:04 p.m. Wednesday, January 5, 2011 at Lourdes Hospital in Paducah.

He was born June 30, 1931 in Trigg County to the late Breferd and Katie Snider Turner.

He was a member, deacon and trustee of Northside Baptist Church, a veteran of the U. S. Army and was retired from the B.F. Goodrich in Calvert City as a chemical operator. He was a 1950 Trigg County High School graduate where he played basketball and football. He coached youth baseball teams and was an avid UK basketball fan.

He was preceded in death by one sister, Owen Downs; three brothers, Coen Turner, Jack Turner and Oval Turner; and one granddaughter, Keri Turner.

Survivors include his wife, Mary Jane Wallace Turner of Murray; one sister, Ella Mae Cross of Knoxville, Tenn.; one brother, Hezzie Turner of Murray; one daughter, Janeann Turner of Murray; two sons, Terry Turner of Paris Landing, Tenn. and Scott Turner (and wife Stacey) of Grand Rivers; five grandchildren, Jessie Turner (and wife Jessica), Taylor Turner, Dylan Holt, Hunter Holt and Joshua Turner; one great grandchild, Jayda Turner, and several nieces and nephews.
