Mr. Wepking died on Sunday, January 23, 2011 at the Don and Marilyn Anderson HospiceCare Center in Fitchburg, Wisc.
He was born January 13, 1926 in Richland Center, Wisc., the son of the late William and Alvina (Stibbe) Wepking, He married Sylvia Joy FitzGerald on September 10, 1950 in Richland Center.
Warren served in the US Marine Corps during WW II, in the Pacific Theatre from 1944 until he was Honorably discharged in 1946. A longtime resident of Beloit, Warren worked as a mechanical draftsman at Beloit Corp., retiring in1987. At that time, he and his wife moved to Cadiz, returning to Janesville in 2006. Warren was an amateur astronomer, and also active in the VFW; serving as past commander at the Cadiz VFW Post No. 7890 and recently as a member of the Janesville VFW Post No. 1621. He was also a member of the Marine Corps League, Odd Fellows and Moose Lodge No. 197.
Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Sylvia; daughters Sharon (Jerry) Morawetz, Amy (Gerhard) Opfer, Cindy (Pete) Mory; sons: Dan (Nancy) Wepking, Bill (Linda) Wepking and Chuck Wepking; 13 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his grandson: Bryan Green; brother: Robert Wepking; and his sister: Marie Cockroft.
