Mr. Chewning died Friday, January 28, 2011, at Caldwell Medical Center in Princeton.
He was a member of Wallonia Christian Church where he had served as an elder and deacon. He was retired from the former International Shoe Factory in Hopkinsville and Crop Production Services in Cadiz. He was also a farmer.
Survivors include one son and daughter-in-law, Craig and Shelby Chewning of Cerulean; one brother, Wilford Hoover Chewning of Cerulean; one grandson, Jonathon Chewning of Princeton; one nephew, Joe Chewning of Cerulean; and one niece, Stephanie Perkins of Cerulean.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Cephas Wilford Chewning and Margaret Frances Chewning.
Music was provided by Lucretia Faughn, pianist. Serving as pallbearers were Mike Brashears, Steve Hargis, Joe Chewning, William Hadley, Tracey McBride and Scott Jolly.
