Trigg County will be represented by three student-athletes this weekend in the state high school wrestling championship meet.

Aaron Stevens, Jerimiah Kline and Jayven Jones qualified for state with their performances at Saturday’s region championship meet at Union County.

Stevens finished third in the 189-pound weight class, while Kline was fourth at 103 pounds and Jones was fourth at 152. Cody Whittington also competed for Trigg, taking sixth at 125 pounds.

It’s the first time since 1982 that a Trigg wrestler has qualified for state. The last to do so was current head coach Ralph Stevens, who won the state title at 155 pounds.

The meet is scheduled for Thursday through Saturday at the Frankfort Convention Center.
