Funeral services for Delbert Stagner, 91, of Cadiz, were held Sunday, February 20, 2011. The Rev. Norman Ellis and Father Joseph Babu officiated. Burial followed at the East End Ceme-tery in Cadiz. Goodwin Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

Mr. Stagner died following a short illness at 3:24 a.m. Friday, February 18, 2011 at Christian Care Communities in Hopkinsville.

He was born June 5, 1919 in Trigg County to the late Silas Marion and Mallie Wyatt Stagner.

He was a veteran having served first in the Coast Gurard an then in the United States Navy. He served during World War II and then in the Korean Conflict. He was a member of the St. Stephens Catholic Church in Cadiz. He owned Stagner Electric and Plumbing after returning from service. He was director of services of Decatur Memorial Hospital. He was director of Maintenance for Bloomington School System in Bloomington, Ill. He was business manager for the Sisters of St. Benedict Mother House in St. Joseph, Minn. He was director of services at Riverside Hospital, Crookston, Minn. He returned to Cadiz after retiring to assume the position once again as director of Maintenance for Trigg County School System.

He was preceded in death by one brother, Claudie Earl Stagner, two sisters, Beatrice Stagner Wallace and Irene Stagner Ricks.

Survivors include his wife of 64 years, Ronella Morris Stagner of Cadiz; one son, James D. “Monty” Stagner (and wife Robin Ford) of Cadiz; two daughters, April Stagner (and husband David Pendleton) of Cadiz and Jeannie Stagner Bodine of Cadiz; special friend, Tony Gordon of Cadiz; nine grandchildren, Justin Johnson, Jeanna Johnson Arfsten, Nick Bodine, Jennifer Bodine, Alice Ewing, Aaron Stagner, Josh Stagner, Annie Stagner Wyatt and Will Stagner; and eight great grandchildren.

Pallbearers were Josh Stagner, Justin Johnson, Will Stagner, Nick Bodine, Aaron Stagner and Ross Wyatt.

Music was provided by Stacy and Janay Futrell, Jody Terrell, vocalist and Stacy Futrell instrumentalist.
