Funeral services for Richard Alfred Dassow, 90, of Cadiz, were held Tuesday, March 1, 2011 at Northlake Funeral Home in Northlake, Ill. King’s Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements. Burial followed at Arlington Cemetery in Elmhurst, Ill. with military honors.

Mr. Dassow died of natural causes at 12:30 a.m. Friday, February 25, 2011 at Bradford Heights Health and Rehab in Hopkinsville.

He was born January 20, 1921 in Chicago, Ill. to the late William Dassow and Bertha Grammitt Dassow.

He was a member of the Faith Lutheran Church in Westchester, Ill. He was a retired owner and operator of Frank W. Black Printing in Chicago, Ill., a United States Army Veteran having served in World War II, a member of the Cadiz VFW Post No. 7890 as well as a member of River Grove Moose Lodge in River Grove, Ill.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Violet Virginia Fugina Dassow; and three sisters; Ester Auld, Mildred Dassow and Ruth Dassow.

Survivors include one sister, Dorothy Weber of Ill.; one son Ron Dassow (and wife Bobbi) of Cadiz; one daughter, Colleen Gail Ingle (and husband Terry) of Colorado; six grandchildren, Rhonda Dassow of Lockport, Ill., Sharyn Hanz of Phoeniz, Ariz., Richard Dassow of Bensenville, Ill., Justin, Jonathan and Shelly Ingle all of Colorado; three great grandchildren, Jessica Henthorn of Buckeye, Ariz., Sarah Hanz of Phoenix, Ariz., and Ryan Richard Dassow of Bensenville, Ill.
