Funeral services for Lola Smith, 84, of Eddyville, were held Tuesday, March 22, 2011 at Bethany Baptist Church in Lyon County. The Rev. Denny Francis officiated. Burial followed in the Bethany Cemetery. Lakeland Funeral Home in Eddyville was in charge of the arrangements.

Mrs. Smith died Saturday, March 19, 2011 at the Christian Care Retirement Center in Kuttawa.

She was a homemaker and a member of Bethany Baptist Church in Lyon County.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Wilford G. Smith; parents, James Madison Harper, Jr. and Annie Gillespie Harper; four sisters, Mary Harper, Eva Lois Hall, Rosie Virginia Hall and Willie Hazel Ray; four brothers, Clarence, Robert, James and Rube Harper.

She is survived by one brother, Edward Harper of Eddyville; one sister, Mattie Marie Bartee of Eddyville; five sons, Jimmy, Richard, and John Smith all of Eddyville, Gene Smith of Gatlinburg, Tenn. and Dean Smith of Kennesawa, Ga.; five daughters, Cathy Wilcox of Murray, Darlene Mestas of Austin, Texas, Angie Hayes of Cartersville, Ga., Paula Jordan of Phenix, Ala., and Gina Smith of Eddyville; 30 grandchildren, 31 great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews and one sister-in-law, Nell Robinson of Montgomery, Ala.
