A deputy with the Trigg County Sheriff’s Department resigned recently, said Trigg County Sheriff Ray Burnam II.

Jason Key tendered his resignation recently because he wanted to be with his family, said Burnam. Key started on Jan. 26 and had been the deputy in charge of non-emergency animal control calls.

Burnam said Monday that there wasn’t a dedicated animal control officer on the force. Former Deputy Jimmy Godair had expressed interest and had applied for the position but ultimately decided to keep working at Cadiz Hardware, added the sheriff.

“Right now, we’re triaging calls the best we can,” Burnam said.
