Funeral services for William Howard Skinner, 85, of Cadiz, were held Sunday, April 17, 2011 at Goodwin Funeral Home in Cadiz. The Revs. Irvan Darnall and Robert McIntosh officiated. Burial followed in the Futrell-Skinner Cemetery in Trigg County. Goodwin Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

Mr. Skinner died of natural causes at 7:34 p.m. Thursday, April 14, 2011 at Caldwell Medical Center in Princeton.

He was born June 26, 1925 in Cadiz to the late Carnell and Gracie Askew Skinner.

Mr. Skinner was a United States Army veteran serving in W.W. II. He was a retired federal employee. He attended Dry Creek Primitive Baptist Church and was a member of the Cadiz Masonic Lodge no. 121 where he was a 50- year member, and was also a member of the American Legion and VFW.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Melba Adell Thomas Skinner; one brother, Donnie Ray Skinner; and one daughter, Teresa Jane Skinner.

Survivors include one sister, June Cobb of Cadiz; three sons, Tommy Skinner (and wife Annette) of Cadiz, Tony Skinner of Panama City, Fla., and Kevin Skinner (and wife Kay) of Cadiz; four daughters; Melba Futrell of Hopkinsville, Rebecca Smith of Gainsboro, Tenn., Barbara Fowler (and husband James) of St. Louis, Mo. and Karen Adams, Jr. (and husband James) of Cadiz; 11 grandchildren, Myra Cornelius, Dianna Savetman, Brian Smith, Whitney Martin, Layla Nieman, Amelia Saint, Amanda Grace, Sarah Hawkins, James Adams III, Jeremy Skinner and Beau Skinner; two step-grandchildren, Courtney Broadbent and Josh Futrell; 15 great-grandchildren, Austin Hart, Garrett Hart, David Savetman, Madison Savetman, Becca Smith, Sarah Heggie, McKenzie Martin, Ryn Nieman, Langston Saint, Thomas Hawkins, Noah Hawkins, Chloe Adams, Jane Elizabeth Skinner, Madilynn Skinner and Lana Skinner.

Pallbearers were Austin Hart, Brian Smith, James Adams III, Jeremy Skinner, Beau Skinner and Roy Earl Thomas.

Music was provided by Sheila Lancaster, vocalist and instrumentalist.
