Funeral services for James Stroud, 60, of Cadiz, were held Saturday, April 30, 2011 at Goodwin Funeral Home in Cadiz. The Revs. Geoff Baggett and Dr. Dan Carfrey officiated. Burial with military honors followed at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery in Clinton.

Mr. Stroud died after a battle with cancer at 5:09 p.m. Wednesday, April 27, 2011 at his residence in Cadiz.

He was born December 11, 1950 in Clinton to Lamon Dana Stroud and June Herrington.

Mr. Stroud was a member of Crossroads Fellowship Church where he served as an elder. He was a United States Navy veteran serving in Vietnam. He was formerly employed with Centennial Medical Center of Nashville, Tenn. where he worked as a mental health counselor.

He was preceded in death by his father, Lamon Dana Stroud.

He is survived by his wife Sue Gale Stroud of Cadiz; mother, June Herrington of Cadiz, three brothers, Jerry Stroud of Cadiz, Donnie Stroud (and wife Sara) of Clinton, Kevin Stroud (and wife Jodi) of Cadiz; two sisters, Colleen Billham of Cadiz and Sabrina Free (and husband Flint) of Cadiz; three sons, Andrew Stroud (and wife Cindy) of Tacoma, Wash., Phillip Stroud of Cadiz and Adam Stroud of Cadiz; two daughters, Holly Wilson (and husband Brandon) of Seattle, Wash. and Laurie Callahan (and husband Shawn) of Fredericksburg, Va.; and 11 grandchildren, Landon Wilson, Dylan Wilson, Paige Callahan, Hannah Stroud, Brooklyn Meador, Kiah Stroud, Madison Stroud, Cole Callahan, Ethan Stroud, Sadie Stroud and Jackson Stroud.

Pallbearers were Andrew Stroud, Phillip Stroud, Adam Stroud, Brandon Wilson, Shawn Callahan, Landon Wilson, Dylan Wilson and Darrell Billham. Honorary pallbearers were Kathy Stevenson, Diane Dunn, Larry and Peggy Bland, Jerry Stroud, Donnie and Sara Stroud, Colleen Billham, Martha Young, Betty Herron, Pat Lewis and David McCraw.

Music was provided by Crossroads Fellowship Singers.
