Funeral services for Maxine Holland Sumner, 81, of Cadiz, were held Tuesday, May 17, 2011 at Goodwin Funeral Home in Cadiz. The Rev. Irvin Darnall officiated. Burial followed at the East End Cemetery in Cadiz. Goodwin Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

Mrs. Sumner died of natural causes at 8:30 a.m. Saturday, May 14, 2011 at Regional Medical Center in Madisonville.

She was born November 26, 1929 in Golden Pond to the late Dewey and Ada Mohon Colson.

Mrs. Sumner had worked at the former Elk Brand Manufacturing in Cadiz and she was a member of Liberty Point Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Joe Holland, three brothers, Seldon Colson, Clint Colson and Clyde Colson; and one sister, Ruth Colson.

Survivors include her husband, William A. “Bill” Sumner of Cadiz; one sister, Irene Edmonds (and husband T. O.) of Cadiz; one son, Donnie Holland (and wife Sheila) of Cadiz; one daughter, Jennifer Baker (and husband Ernie) of Cadiz; three grandchildren, John Holland, Darla Thomas and Amanda Baker; and three great grandchildren, Colson Thomas, Kaylee Holland and Ethan Hughes.

Pallbearers were Josh Adams, Lonnie Adams, Ernie Baker, Brad Colston, Howard Colston and Brian Thomas. Honorary Pallbearers were The Liberty Point Baptist Women’s Sunday School Class.

Music was provided by Mark Harris, vocalist, Jan Oakley pianist, and Martha Fortner, organist.
