Wes Soward of the Louisville-based Conservation Services Group showed how a blower door works last Wednesday at the home of John and Sally Mateja. Several different Electric groups attended the conference, where a partnership between Kentucky Home Peformace and Energy Right Solutions that officials said could make it easier and cheaper for customers to make their homes more energy efficient.
Pennyrile Rural Electric, Hopkinsville Electric System and Tennessee Valley Authority were represented at the Cardinal Circle residence of Sally Mateja at 10:30 a.m. Pennyrile Electric Spokesman Brent Gilkey said both programs have been around for a time, but are being combined to make it easier and cheaper for customers to improve the energy efficiency of their homes.
“TVA offers a program through Pennyrile for customers to participate in a home evaluation,” Gilkey said. “This allows them a certified energy evaluator to come through the house, and point out the things and provide them a list of the things that they can do to improve their energy efficiency, which will lower their bill and make them more comfortable.”
