Mr. Crisp passed away August 24, 2011 at his residence. He was born November 20, 1935 in Trigg County to the late Robert Woodrow Crisp and Mary Grace Wilson Crisp. He was an Army Veteran and was retired from the Daviess County Board of Education. He was head of the English department at Daviess County High School where he taught English, Humanities, Mythology, and Telecommunications. He was the coach of the first academic team at Daviess County High School. He received the first KET award for outstanding use of television in the classroom. Mr. Crisp took pride in his former students who went on to make a difference in the community.
Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Martha Whittaker Crisp; two sons, James W. Crisp, Jr. of Lexington and John Wilson Crisp of Owensboro; two daughters, Helen Grace Hardy and Kathy (Doug) Lanz both of Owensboro; six grandchildren, Stephen, Matthew and Elizabeth Hardy, and Philip, Mary Kate and Andrew Lanz. He is also survived by a brother, Ron (Sharon) Crisp of Clarksville, Tenn., and a sister, Jackie Perry of Hopkinsville.
