Funeral services for Mary E. Futrell, 87, of Centralia, Ill., will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, September 29, 2011 at The Irvin Funeral Home Chapel in Centralia. The Rev. Tommy Henegar will officiate. Interment will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Park. Friends may call from 5-7 p.m. Wednesday, September 28, 2011 at the funeral home.

Mrs. Futrell died at 7:03 pm on Friday, September 23, s011 at St. Mary’s Hospital in Centralia.

She was born on July 16, 1924 in Trigg County, the daughter of Henry Terry and Nonnie Mae (Frizzell) Berkley. She married Elmer Ray Futrell in Cadiz on December 11, 1945, and he preceded her in death on June 26, 1992.

Mrs. Futrell is survived by one son, Don Futrell of Chula Vista, Calif.; one daughter, Sheila Futrell and fiancée David Krietemeyer of Centralia; one sister, Grace Smith of East Peoria, Ill.; two grandchildren; and two great grandchildren.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, and three brothers, Henry Clarence Berkley, Terry E. Berkley and James Eugene Berkley.

Mrs. Futrell was a member of First Christian Church Disciples Of Christ, worked on Service Day, Christian Women’s Fellowship Group 7 and Good Fellowship Class. Mary was also a quilter and loved to sew.

Memorial donations may be made to the First Christian Church Disciples of Christ and will be accepted at The Irvin Funeral Home in Centralia.
