Trigg County clinched the Class 3A 1st District’s No. 3 postseason seed Friday with a 62-12 win over Heath.

The Wildcats will play Nov. 4 at the 3A 2nd District’s No. 2 seed, which will be the loser of this Friday’s matchup between 8-0 Edmonson County and 5-3 Monroe County.

Trigg got off to a fast start in Friday’s win over the Pirates. Maurice Powell set the ‘Cats up with solid field position on the opening kickoff, and Hakeem Tyler found the end zone two plays later.

“We felt like our special teams hadn’t been where they needed to be all year,” Trigg head coach Coby Lewis said. “We spent a lot of time last week working specifically on that return. We’d been running it all year, but some kids hadn’t been doing what they were supposed to do on it.”
