Trigg County Sheriff Ray Burnam held an open meeting about a string of thefts in the Linton area at the Linton Fire Department Saturday evening.

Burnam said Linton is one of the few areas in the county where the Trigg County Sheriff’s Office hasn’t had as much success cracking down on thefts, and added that the thefts down there are different from home break-ins, as the things that are stolen are regularly unattended and can be easily stolen.

“People are getting tired of it, and we have limited resources, and we’ve made several arrests over the past few weeks in different areas of the county,” Burnam said. “But we haven’t made any arrests for the offenses that have happened in Linton yet.”

However, he said that there should be arrests shortly, as there was a good turnout at the meeting, with about 50 people packed into the fire department building, many of whom supplied the sheriff’s department with information on the thefts.
