Trigg County’s Allison Greene scored her only basket late in overtime of Monday’s 58-54 win over Fort Campbell.

The Trigg County Lady Wildcats opened their 2011-12 season in exciting fashion with a 58-54 overtime win Monday over Fort Campbell.

Trigg led by five after the first quarter but trailed by five at the half. The Lady ‘Cats were down by nine early in the third quarter but led 31-30 at the end of the frame.

From there, neither team led by more than four points, which the score being tied six times and the lead changing hands 10 times in the fourth quarter and overtime combined.

Trigg trailed by two late in the fourth quarter when freshman Mallory Mize grabbed a loose ball in the lane and banked in a shot to tie the score at 44-44. The teams went back and forth throughout overtime until the Lady ‘Cats closed the game on a 7-0 run bookended by free throws by Khadijah Grubbs and including baskets by Allison Greene and Alyssa Maxey.
