Trigg District Court Judge James Redd entered a preliminary not guilty plea on the behalf of murder suspect Dwight D. “Whitey” Wisdom at his arraignment in Trigg County District Court last Wednesday afternoon.

Wisdom, 19, of Princeton, has been charged with murder in connection with the fatal shooting of Eric Jones, 26, of Cadiz, at a party at the Trigg County Recreation Complex at about 2 a.m. on Sunday, Dec. 3.

When asked at the arraignment if he had an attorney, Wisdom said he did, although he couldn’t think of the name at first; he said his family would know. It was later indicated via a business card in Wisdom’s pocket that he will be represented by Will Kautz of Paducah. Kautz was not present at the arraignment.

During the roughly four-minute arraignment, Redd scheduled a preliminary hearing on the matter for 9 a.m. on Friday, Dec. 16. He said the purpose of the preliminary hearing will be to establish probable cause, and that if probable cause is found, they will form a Trigg County Grand Jury to have them file a formal indictment against Wisdom.
