I really enjoyed and appreciated Mike Wright’s column about Christmas dinner with Millard Griffin.
Gerry Griffin was my mother. Her Christmas Dinners were a wonderful thing. They were much more than a meal – a real event.
We didn’t have the pleasure of being there for the basketball dinner but were there for many years on Christmas day when all of Millard’s family was there. His sister said it was sort of like living with the Darlings from the Andy Griffith Show; at some point the instruments would appear from nowhere and bluegrass music would break out. Those were great times.
Please, express my appreciation to Mike Wright for sharing his memories of those wonderful times.
