The Trigg County High School Special Olympics team recently participated in the Area 1 Fall Bowling tournament in Paducah.

Area 1 consists of 13 counties including Trigg, Caldwell, Calloway, Ballard, Carlisle, Crittenden, Fulton, Graves, Hickman, Livingston, Lyon, Marshall and McCracken.

Special Olympics is the world’s largest organization for children and adults with intellectual disabilities, providing year-round training and competitions to more than 3.1 million athletes in 175 countries.

Trigg County was well represented at the Area competition by high students Maurice Catlett, Shane Edmonson, Elliot Shepard, Cameron Kniaz, Rachel Cook and Elaina Davis. The team is coached by Penny Baker, TCHS FMD teacher, and Cindy Barnett, Trigg Middle School instructional assistant.
