Residents of Rockcastle from Trigg and Lyon Counties and members of the Trigg County Sheriff’s Office and the Lyon County Sheriff’s Office were represented. Trigg County Sheriff Ray Burnam talked about steps ordinary citizens can take, while TCSO Lieutenant Dane Hughes discussed the theft situation.
“We’ve had a rash of thefts going on, and as I contacted other agencies, I found out that we’re kind of late in the game,” Hughes said. “We’re having three to four (thefts) a day, not every day, and about eight total that I can think of right now.”
Hughes said he believes these thefts are being perpetrated by the same individuals, and that they have four or five different vehicle descriptions. He stated that the thefts generally consist of breaking and entering into part-time homes, with people stealing mostly cash, alcohol and small items like electronics, hunting equipment, tools – items that are easily loaded into vehicles.
