Kentucky State Police Detective Steve Silfies (above left) testified on Wednesday about the witnesses to the Dec. 4 shooting at the Recreation Complex. Lieutenant Dane Hughes of the Trigg County Sheriff’s Office (above right) was also present.

District Judge James Redd forwarded the case of Dwight Wisdom, the man accused of fatally shooting 26-year-old Cadiz resident Eric Jones on Dec. 4, to a Trigg County Grand Jury after a preliminary hearing that was held last Wednesday afternoon.

After hearing testimony from Detective Steve Silfies of the Kentucky State Police Post One for almost an hour, Redd declared that there was probable cause for a murder indictment against 19-year-old Wisdom of Princeton.

Silfies, who is in charge of the investigation, answered questions from both Trigg County Attorney Randall Braboy and defense attorney Will Kautz of Paducah about the testimonies of the people he and others interviewed. He was the only person to testify at the hearing.

“There were several witnesses that saw Mr. Wisdom with the gun and shooting, five identified him as pulling the trigger, and most of them said he shot two shots in the air at first by the door,” Silfies said. “It kind of backed up that our victim had got into a fight with another person, which is Mr. Wilson. And they say he just leveled off the gun and shot.”
