An 87-year-old Cadiz resident died in her Princeton Home road after a fire on the morning of Saturday, Dec. 31, according to a report by Trooper Dean Patterson of the Kentucky State Police.

At about 10:45 a.m., the Montgomery Volunteer Police Department responded to a fire at a mobile home in the 3900 block of Princeton Road. Patterson said the fire was “fully involved.” Trigg County Coroner John Mark Vinson declared Mamie L. Banister dead at the scene.

Banister’s daughter was also in the mobile home and a rescue was attempted, and she was taken by ambulance to Trigg County Hospital, where she was treated and released for smoke inhalation, Patterson wrote.

The Kentucky State Fire Marshal was called to the scene and is investigating the cause of the fire. Patterson’s report didn’t indicate whether foul play is suspected. However, Patterson said there was no indication that foul play was involved.

The Cadiz Police Department, Trigg County Sheriff’s Office, Cerulean Fire Department and Trigg County EMS also assisted at the scene, Patterson wrote.
