Kenneth Kohl, the newly minted volunteer fire trainer/coordinator for Trigg County, has spent his first week or two on the job trying to meet with the various volunteer departments.

Kohl said they are looking at having the State Fire Commission’s recruitment trailer in Trigg County later this month, but at press time a specific date had not yet been pinned down. He said they had been planning to have it here at the beginning of the month, but it was hard to get everyone’s ducks in a row in time.

“There’s no way to coordinate everything that needs to be done by then,” Kohl said.

Pat Thompson, Firefighter Recruitment and Retention Coordinator for the Kentucky Fire Commission, said he plans to meet with Kohl on Jan. 4, and added that they are planning to bring the recruitment trailer to Trigg County on Saturday, Jan. 21, possibly to the East Golden Pond Volunteer Fire Department.
