If any of your resolutions had to do with health then let me suggest two new reference books. “Merck Manual Home Health Handbook” and “Complete Guide to Prescription & Nonprescription Drugs.” These books cannot be checked out but can be used in the library.
“Pam’s Pick” what better way to start your new reading year than with a Kentucky author. “V is for Vengeance” by Sue Grafton, this is a Kinsey Millhone novel. Kinsey becomes involved in a spiderweb of relationships. A spoiled kid with a gambling debt, and dead woman and for her birthday, two black eyes.
“I is for Innocent” by Sue Grafton, this is not new but now in large print.
“The Drop” by Michael Connelly, this is a Harry Bosch novel. Harry has been put on the drop list by the LAPD. Meaning it’s time to retire, but Harry has a few cases, old and new to finish before he is going to take that final step.
“Nightwoods” by Charles Frazier, a novel of suspense and love, set in the 1960’s in a small town in North Carolina. A young woman inherits her murdered sister’s troubled twins. Before the twins Luce was happy living a solitary life. Now the children have changed everything making life difficult and hopeful in dangerous ways.
“Soft Target” by Stephen Hunter, a thriller. What would happen if the largest mall was attacked on Black Friday? Ray Cruz, a Marine sniper thought he was done with stalking and killing but he’s among the thousands trapped in the mall. He’s the only one with a plan and the guts to confront the self-proclaimed “Brigade Mumbai.” Now all he needs is a gun.
“Triangles” by Ellen Hopkins, this is her first adult novel. This is the story of four female friends with mid life crises.
New Non-fiction: “An American Betrayal” by Daniel Blake Smith, this is the story of Cherokee patriots and the Trail of Tears. This is a vivid account of a tragic part of American history.
“Essential IBS Book” by Alvin Newman, this book will help you understand and manage irritable bowel syndrome & functional dyspepsia.
“Crohn’s Disease and Ulcerative Colitis: Everything You Need to Know” by Fred Saibil, this book helps explain how the normal gastrointestinal system works. Then explains what specifically goes wrong in those suffering from IBD.
“Whole Health for Happy Cats” by Sandy Arora, a guide to keeping your cats healthy, happy and well fed.
“Whole Health for Happy Dogs” by Jill Elliot, this is a natural health guide for dogs and their owners.
New Audio Books: “Flash and Bones” by Kathy Reich, and “Kill Me If You Can” by James Patterson.
