Mr. Finley died following a long illness at 8 p.m. Monday, January 9, 2012 at Trigg County Hospital in Cadiz.
He was born February 5, 1925 in Trigg County to the late Burnet and Myrtie Cunningham Finley.
He was a charter member of Maple Grove Baptist Church which he also helped build. He was the owner of Finley’s Repair Shop in Trigg County for many years.
He was preceded in death by four brothers, Marcus Finley, Daniel Finley, L.B. Finley and James Finley; one sister, Sally Gordon; and one son, Jackie Finley.
He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Rosie Allen Finley of Cadiz; three sons, Paul Finley (and wife Paulette) of Cadiz, Nick Finley (and wife Becky) of Paducah and Tim Finley (and wife Sharon) of Hopkinsville; two daughters, Franna Johnson (and husband R.D.) of Cadiz and Becky Freeman (and husband Donnie) of Cadiz; 17 grandchildren, Jeff Ingram, Robert Howell Ingram, Brent Ingram, Adam Ingram, Regina Mimms, Ross Finley, Luke Finley, Mark Finley, Kendell Finley, Lanny Finley, Alvis Finley, Brian Finley, Amie Fleming, Amanda Going, Deanna Parry, Andrew Freeman and Tiffany Finley; 36 great-grandchildren ; one great-great grandchild and several nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers were Jeff Ingram, Robert Howell Ingram, Brent Ingram, Adam Ingram, Ross Finley, Luke Finley, Mark Finley, Kendell Finley, Lanny Finley, Alvis Finley, Brian Finley and Andrew Freeman. Honorary pallbearers were Richard “Sonny” Finley. Music was provided by Steve Darnall, pianist and the Maple Grove Baptist Church Choir.
