Funeral services for Eugene Irvin, 97, of Chicago, and formerly of Cerulean, will be held at 12 p.m. Wednesday, January 18, 2012 at Gamble Funeral Home in Hopkinsville. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until 12 p.m. at Gamble Funeral Home. Gamble Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Mr. Irvin died of natural causes January 12, 2012 at St. James Hospice in Chicago Heights, Ill.

He was born February 11, 1914 in Christian County to the late Frank Irvin and Ethel Vaughn Irvin.

Eugene was a member of St. Columbanus Catholic Church. He had worked for the United States Postal Service and he was also a World War II veteran.

He is survived by three daughters, Jennifer Cole of Chicago, Ill., Denise Garcia of San Diego, Calif. and Dorice Only-Irvin also of San Diego, Calif.; three grandchildren; and a host of great grandchildren.
