Funeral services for James Edward Herbert, 78, of Nortonville, were held Saturday, January 14, 2012 at Bandy Funeral Home in Nortonville. The Rev. Marshall Lee officiated and the Hopkins County Honor Guard performed full military rites. Burial followed in the Concord Cemetery in White Plains. Bandy Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

Mr. Herbert died Wednesday, January 11, 2012 at his residence.

He was born in Mortons Gap to the late Garland Oscar and Gracie Mae Dillingham Herbert.

He served in the United States Army from 1953-1955, was a millwright at Chrysler, and was a member of Ponderosa Baptist Church in Cadiz.

He was preceded in death by one son, Cecil Herbert; and two daughters, Janice Sue and Janet Lou Herbert.

He is survived by his wife, Dolly Wilson Herbert; one sister, Patsy Lunsford of Richmond, Ind.; one daughter, Cindy Hight (and husband Ricky) of Nortonville; two sons, Ricky Herbert of Uniontown and Michael Herbert (and wife Leanna) of Cincinnati, Ohio; eight grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
