On Friday February 3rd, our Trigg County girls and boys basketball teams will host Community Christian out of Paducah. The girls game will start at 6:00. After the girls game the 2012 Trigg County Athletic Hall of fame class will be called to and recognized on the gym floor. After the Hall of Fame recognition the longstanding tradition of homecoming will be observed. After homecoming, our Wildcat boys will take on Community Christian. It should be noted here that Community Christian’s boys and girls teams are both very decent. As a matter of fact their boys beat Livingston Central earlier in the year. That should speak volumes to any Trigg County fan.
Obviously, February 3rd will be a night packed full of sports, entertainment, history and nostalgia. Homecoming and Hall of Fame recognition all in one package makes for a special night.
As good as February 3rd will be, the 4th could be even better. The doors to the Trigg County schools cafeteria will be open at 4:00 pm. There will be a wonderful meal catered by Hancock’s beginning at 5:00 pm. At around 6:00 the Class of 2012 inductions will begin. The most special thing about the night is when the inductees get a chance to speak on their involvement with Trigg County athletics. Last year many people remarked that it was one of the most memorable events they had ever attended in Trigg County.
I hope a large crowd will turn out to show their appreciation for what the inductees have meant to Trigg County. If any of them ever touched your life through their playing days, coaching days or through their role as a contributor this would be a great time to show up and say thank you.
Lastly, it is very important that we get the most accurate count possible as to how many are planning to attend the banquet. Tickets will be available at the door but we really need to make a good estimate as to how many folks to expect. Tickets for the meal and program are $10. They will be available at the high school office at 8:30 Thursday morning January 19th. Get your ticket early and brace yourself for a special weekend reflecting on the some of Trigg County’s all time greats.
