Funeral services for Effie Aldridge Adams, 96, of Cadiz, will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, February 1, 2012 at King’s Funeral Home in Cadiz. The Revs. Monty Flanagan and Wayne Glass will officiate. Burial will follow in the East End Cemetery in Cadiz. Kings Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Mrs. Adams died of natural causes at 12:03 p.m. Saturday, January 28, 2012 at Christian Care Center in Kuttawa.

She was born June 16, 1915 in Trigg County to the late Willie Gordon Aldridge and Rosie Thomas Aldridge.

She was a member of Liberty Point Baptist Church and the Thomas Bridges Association. She had worked as a seamstress at Elk Brand Manufacturing Co.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Jesse H. Adams; five brothers, Robert Aldridge, Willie Douglas Aldridge, Chappel Aldridge, Hopson Aldridge and John Aldridge; one sister, Delle Hite; and one daughter, Peggy Adams Jackson.

She is survived by one sister, Mae Ladd of Cadiz; one son, Robert A. “Bob” Adams (and wife Laurette) of Rome, N.Y.; one daughter, Linda Burnam (and husband Willis) of Cadiz; seven grandchildren, Kelly Mitchell (and husband Jerry) of Cadiz, Kim Humphries (and husband Stan) of Cadiz, Kristen Roberts (and husband Danny) of Hopkinsville, Alison Shy (and husband Ted) of Bagdad, Sarah Bishop (and husband Seth) of Frankfort, Jennifer Lundy (and husband Don) of Welch, W. Va. and Marc Ryan Adams (and wife Sara) of Rome, N.Y.; 15 great-grandchildren, Amanda Broadbent of Huntington Beach, Calif., Lauren Taylor of Cadiz, Thomas Broadbent of Cadiz, Stephen, Lydia and Luke Humphries of Cadiz, Alex Keys, Emily and Ava Roberts all of Hopkinsville, Carter and Parker Adams of Rome, N.Y. Connor Lundy of Welch, W. Va., Caroline Shy of Bagdad, and Avery and Eleanor Bishop of Frankfort; and one great-great grandson, Hudson Taylor of Cadiz.

Pallbearers are Marc Ryan Adams, Thomas Broadbent, Alex Keys, Stephen Humphries, Seth Bishop and Ted Shy. Honorary pallbearers are Luke Humphries, Hudson Taylor, Carter Adams, Parker Adams and Connor Lundy. Music provided by Georgia McIntosh, vocalist, Liberty Point Baptist Church Choir and Clarissa King, pianist.
