“The people of Trigg County have come to expect qualified individuals to step up where the people of the county has a choice,” Goodwin said. “I think people deserve a choice, I think it’s our system working at its best, I think it’s a sign of good government when people have a choice.”
Goodwin owns Goodwin Investments with his brother Kenneth and is a real estate broker. He said that if he is elected, he will give up any obligations that pose a conflict of interest with the Circuit Court Clerk position his first day on the job on Jan. 1. He added that he will resign from the Fiscal Court then as well if he wins.
Goodwin, who has been on the Fiscal Court for one and a half terms, said he wants the Circuit Court Clerk’s Office to have more accessible hours, including possible hours on Saturdays or evening hours at least one day a week. He also said he wants to maintain a respectable climate in the office.
