I am from Arkansas but I have many relatives in Cadiz and throughout Kentucky. I have travelled over that scary bridge throughout my lifetime.
First and foremost, thank the Lord no one was hurt! When I saw on national news that the Eggners Ferry Bridge was broken, I was elated! I am so very glad no one was hurt. The last time I crossed that bridge on Dec 30, 2011, I told my family I was never ever going to cross that horrible, trecherous, dangerous bridge again.
As a child, I can recall many of the times crossing that bridge. As an adult, it scared the hell out of me to drive over it since there was little room for everyone else that you would meet suddenly. I have to say that many times I drove right down the middle whenever I was able to and prayed no one else would be driving on it at that same time.
This last time was the worst ever because I began to have a panic attack and dreaded the next bridge thereafter over Barkley Lake. Truly, holding your breath does not really help.
I would just like for someone, anyone who can to please tell that boat driver, Thank you so much for doing what the state of Kentucky should have done many years ago by taking out that bridge! Thank you! Ding dong, the wicked bridge is dead!
And I was right. I won’t be crossing that old run-down, ugly, scary, dangerous bridge ever again! Hooorah!
