BASKETBALL: ‘Cats win at Stewart, lose to Christian; girls drop two straight

Trigg County High School’s boys and girls basketball teams split a doubleheader Monday at Stewart County, Tenn., two days after the Lady Wildcats lost to Madisonville-North Hopkins and three days after the Wildcats lost to Christian County.

Wildcats 48,

Stewart County 42

Trigg struggled to score, hitting only 31.4 percent of its field goal attempts (16-of-51) and 50 percent of its free throws (13-of-26) and was outrebounded 41-31 but still managed to pull out the win. Deonquez Nance led the way with 17 points and was joined in double figures by Dee Murphy with 10.

Christian County 84,

Wildcats 60

Friday, Trigg led the Colonels 35-33 with 45 seconds left in the first half, but Christian County dominated the rest of the game, outscoring the Wildcats 49-25 in the second half. Trigg struggled on the boards again and was outrebounded 51-33. Nance scored 25 to lead Trigg and was joined in double figures by David Wease with 12 and Jakelze Martin with 11.
