Saturday night marked the official induction of the Trigg County Athletic Hall of Fame’s second class.

The 10 inductees – Chappel Allen, Duke Burnett, David Butts, Selby Grubbs, Joe Jaggers, Sam Love, David Radford, Gary Siegmund, Buddy Sivills – were either present or represented during Friday’s high school basketball boy-girl doubleheader against Community Christian Academy at Wildcat Gymnasium. The banquet was held Saturday at the Trigg Schools cafeteria.

After the meal, each inductee was introduced by TCHS boys basketball coach and Hall of Fame coordinator Mike Wright.

Chappel Allen

Allen was a basketball player at TCHS in the 1950s, a career highlighted when he averaged 13.5 points per game as a senior in 1953-54. He was also on the football team and was elected team captain by his teammates. However, Allen is perhaps best known for his contributions to Wildcat athletics since then as the founder and owner of Kentucky Machine and Engineering. Among numerous other contributions, Allen has sponsored football bowl games as well as the current Christmas tournament that bears the KME name.

“What an honor it is to be recognized this way, and even a bigger honor to be in a class with these athletes who have contributed so much,” Allen said.
