A proposed redistricting plan that, at press time, was still in the Kentucky House of Representatives’ State Government Committee, could put all of Trigg County in District Four.

House Bill 370 was introduced on Feb. 2 and has been in the State Government Committee since Feb. 6.

It redistricts the state congressional districts and if passed by both houses and signed by Governor Steve Beshear, would put all of Trigg County into District Four, currently represented by Mike Cherry (D), with all of Caldwell County, part of Chrstian County, all of Crittenden County and part of Hopkins County.

The redistricting plan under House Bill One, which was previously signed into law, was ruled unconstitutional by Franklin Circuit Judge Phillip Shepherd on Feb. 7, a little over a week after the hearing, which was held on Jan. 30.

Under House Bill 1, Trigg County was to be split between the Fourth District and the Fifth District, currently represented by Melvin Henley (D).
