As the high school basketball regular season draws to a close, Trigg County’s teams each have one more chance to prepare for next week’s 5th District Tournament in Eddyville.

Both teams hosted Todd County Central on Tuesday (results unavailable at press time). The Wildcats will host 2nd Region-leading Hopkinsville on Thursday, while the Lady ‘Cats will travel to Fort Campbell on Friday.

Hopkinsville will provide the ‘Cats their toughest opponent since an 84-60 loss against Christian County on Jan. 27. Hoptown defeated the Colonels by that same score the night before.

The Wildcats, the No. 2 seed in the district, will face host Lyon County in Monday’s second semifinal. Trigg defeated the Lyons in both regular season meetings, 77-66 on Dec. 16 in Cadiz and 68-61 on Jan 6 in Eddyville.

The winner of that game, barring an upset, will face top-seed Livingston Central. The Cardinals were undefeated in district play this season. However, Trigg’s losses were by seven and four points, while the Lyons lost by four and two points. Crittenden County, in its third meeting this year against Livingston, nearly pulled an upset in the regional All “A” Classic, losing by two.
