Hollis David Kennedy passed away at 12:03 a.m. Sunday, February 5, 2012 in St. Louis, Mo. He was born May 4, 1938 in Trigg County to the late Durward “Dude” and Clarice Henderson Kennedy. Funeral services, officiated by Bro. Charles Kimball, were conducted at Ballwin Baptist Church, Ballwin, Mo. Wednesday, February 8, 2012. Burial followed in Bethel Cemetery in Wildwood, Mo.

Mr. Kennedy was a member of Ballwin Baptist Church, where he was a deacon, trustee and choir member. He worked with the RAs, helped with special needs kids, drove the church van and many other activities involving his church. David was a 1956 graduate of Trigg County High School. Upon graduation, he moved to St. Louis, Mo., where he pursued a career in construction. He was a construction superintendent and a member of Local 602 of the St. Louis Carpenters Union for over 50 years. He did both residential and commercial buildings. He and his wife were avid travelers, going to Hawaii five times, Panama Canal, South Africa, Nova Scotia and other tourist destinations.

David is survived by Suzanne, his wife of 54 years; two sons, Steven Kennedy (and wife Salena) and Scott Kennedy (and wife Robin); one daughter, Debbie Kipp (and husband Dave); six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren, all of St. Louis, Mo. area. He is survived locally by three brothers, Carroll “Mac”, James “Rod”, Kenneth; one sister Edna Terrell; and one brother, Robert “Bob” of Paducah.

He was preceded in death by four brothers, Carlous, Lucian, Wade and Audrey Gene; and one sister, Hettie Maria “Sis” Routh.

Schrader Funeral Home and Crematory of Ballwin, Mo. was in charge of the funeral services.
