Funeral services for Karlton K. “Hoppy” Hopson, 87, of Cadiz, were held Friday, February 24, 2012 at Goodwin Funeral Home in Cadiz. The Revs. Billy Joe Nichols and Kenneth Bruce officiated. Burial followed in the Wall Cemetery in Wallonia. Goodwin Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

Mr. Hopson died following a long illness at 10 p.m. Monday, February 20, 2012 at his residence.

He was born October 5, 1924 in Wallonia to the late Sam Wheeler and Edward Kelly Boyd Hopson, Sr.

Mr. Hopson retired as a heavy equipment operator. He was a member of Cadiz Christian Church. He was a member of Cerulean Masonic Lodge No. 875, Rizpah Shrine Temple & International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Union.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, Sam Wheeler Hopson, Jr. and George Hopson.

He is survived by his wife, Violet “Vi” Hopson of Cadiz; one daughter, Kelly B. Hopson of Cadiz; two step-sons, Richard Bruce of San Marcos, Calif. and Kenneth Bruce of Fairfield, Calif.; one step-daughter, Barbara Martin of Cadiz; two grandchildren, John Raymond Hopson and Austin Derek Hopson; eight step-grandchildren, Rana Underwood, Penny Baker, Ashley Olds, Shelby Mitchell, Krista Gonzales, Tori Bruce, Carson Bruce and Kimberly Shelton; seven step-great-grandchildren; one niece, Janette Bennett of Chicago, Ill. ; and one great-niece, Jennifer Bennett of Chicago, Ill.

Pallbearers were John Raymond Hopson, Austin Derek Hopson, Joe Nichols, Jim Benney, Mike Mathis and Jackie Atwood.
