The 2012 Primary and General Elections will use the state legislative, magisterial and precinct lines as they were in November.

The Kentucky Supreme Court ruled that House Bill One, the 2012 redistricting bill, is unconstitutional in an opinion that was filed Friday afternoon.

“Everything goes back to the 2002 boundaries, except for the U.S. Congressional district lines, which didn’t change for Trigg County anyway, said outgoing Trigg County Clerk Wanda Thomas.

Under the state congressional districts that were drawn in 2002, Trigg County is in the Eighth District, represented by John Tilley (D), and the Fifth District, represented by Melvin Henley (D).

One of the 2012 redistricting bills would have had Trigg split between the Fifth District and the Fourth District, represented by Mike Cherry (D). Another one would have put all of Trigg into the Fourth District.
