A 44-year-old water main under Terrapin Creek burst early Monday morning, said Barkley Lake Water District Manager Terry Goins.
He had originally hoped it would a quick, cheap fix, but said a dive team from from Mainstream Commercial Divers from Murray determined that the pipe “separated” and completely came apart, and couldn’t be repaired without special saws.
For the time being, they are stretching a firehose across the levy to bring water to the people in those areas, but they will be under the boil water advisory until a permanent solution can be found, said Goins.
“We’re getting quotes and are looking at our options,” Goins said.
