This theatrical production is the culmination of events that have been made possible through a grant from the National Endowment for the Arts. The Cadiz Community Arts Center received a NEA matching grant in April of 2011 to pair professionals with community members in order to enhance the arts in local areas.
In June, the Janice Mason Arts Museum brought in professional artists to participate in their second Arts Fair. A professional choreographer worked with Janice Mason Art Museum to present a flash mob dance in downtown Cadiz during the 2011 Halloween Safe Night.
The third component of the grant was to bring in professionals in the areas of set design, direction, stage production, makeup/costumes, and audition techniques to hold a series of workshops in preparation for a resulting stage production.
The workshops were conducted in the fall and winter, and the resulting production is Our Town, which “takes to the boards” on March 15 – 18 in Trigg County High School’s Little Theatre.
