Donnie Holland was appointed Thursday to the spot on the Trigg County Board of Education that has been vacant since Sheila Martin announced her retirement at the end of last year.

According to a press release by Trigg County School Superintendent Travis Hamby, Kentucky Commissioner of Education Terry Holliday made the appointment, which was made effective the day of the appointment. He further said that Holland will assume the responsibilities upon being sworn in.

“He brings a different perspective and unique set of life experiences to the Board. As a business leader, Mr. Holland will be able to provide insight into the skills needed for today’s workforce,” said Trigg County School Superintendent Travis Hamby. “More importantly, it is evident that Mr. Holland cares about the students in Trigg County and wants to ensure a successful future for each one.”

Holland said he will be sworn in within the next two weeks.

Holland is the General Manager of Wabash National, formerly Transcraft.
