Girl Scouts celebrated its 100th anniversary on March 12, 2012.

As part of the celebration, Girl Scouts in every county across the nation gathered together to have what is called a Friendship Circle and to sing a couple of songs.

The neat thing was that all troops started their circle at exactly 6 pm. Trigg County had a great turn out! We had girls off all ages and asked the family members (mom, dad, aunts, uncle, grandparents) to joins in with us. Then we finished off the celebration with Birthday cupcakes.

It was held at the Renaissance stage. On March 12, 1912, the first girl scout meeting was held consisting of 18 girls. In the past 100 years, girl scouts has had over 50 million members!

This press release was submitted by Shannen Pawlowski of the local Girl Scout group.
