BLWD Manager Terry Goins said that the Kentucky Division of Water lifted the advisory at 3:23 p.m. on Thursday, as water samples that were taken the Wednesday before showed no signs of bacteria.
“We hope it never happens again. It may never happen again, but if it does we’ll have to deal with it,” Goins said.
The boil advisory went into effect on Monday, March 5, after a water main that runs underneath Lake Barkley at Terrapin Creek ruptured. While the district was weighing its options, it fed water to residents using fire hoses from the East Golden Pond Volunteer Fire Department.
The advisory affected residents of the Rolling Hills, Barkley Shores, Cumberland Shores, Donaldson Shores and Heather Hills subdivisions as well as people living on the west side of Ross School Road.
