She said she will fondly remember her time as the Trigg County Clerk, and knows the office is in good hands with new Trigg County Clerk Dorris McGill and her staff.
“I’ve had a good tenure in office … it’s been my pride and joy,” Thomas said. However, one part of the job she probably won’t miss is working on elections.
Dozens of people, including many local officials, were present Sunday afternoon at Thomas’ retirement reception, held at the Renaissance Center, to thank her for her 22 years as Trigg County Clerk.
Thomas started out part-time in the Trigg County Clerk’s Office and moved up to full-time work before actually becoming Trigg County Clerk. She served in that position from Jan. 1, 1990, to Feb. 29, 2012.
“I started in 1976, so I said I grew up in the Clerk’s Office,” Thomas said. “It’s been my honor and my pleasure to serve the people of this county. And you can search the world over and you won’t find any better people.”
