Funeral services for Walter George Vinson, 82, of Cadiz, were held Saturday, March 31, 2012, at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church in Cadiz. The Rev. Dr. Jerry Bacon officiated. Burial followed in the Pleasant Hill Baptist Church Cemetery. Gamble Funeral Home in Hopkinsville was in charge of the arrangements.

Mr. Vinson died of natural causes at 10:50 a.m. Tuesday, March 27, 2012, at his residence.

He was born April 3, 1929, in Trigg County to the late Elliot Vinson, Sr. and Grace Taylor Vinson.

He was a member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church and had worked at Ft. Campbell for over 25 years in Civil Service.

He is survived by his wife, Judy Battise Vinson of Cadiz; two brothers, Rev. Elliot Vinson (and wife Irene) of Cadiz and Raymond Vinson (and wife Carrie) of Ironwood, Ohio; one sister, Ruth McFarland of Cadiz; 12 children, Lois Howse of Nashville, Tenn., Gloridean Jennings of Nashville, Tenn., Robert Howse (and wife Theresa), Curley Howse, Jerome Howse all of Nashville, Tenn., Jackie Offutt of Valdosta, Ga., Walter Vinson, Jr. (and wife Glenda) of Atlanta, Ga., Robbie Weaver of San Diego, Calif., Sandy Wiley of Clarksville, Tenn., Victoria Vinson of Clarksville, Tenn., Shonnon Matthews White of Cadiz and Jimmy Duffie of Princeton;15 grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
