Trigg County Intermediate School student Dylan Proffitt is currently among regional and national leaders in cross-country motorcycle racing circuits for the 2012 season.

Proffitt, 9, is currently sixth in Grand National Cross Country Racing’s Youth Bike 65 (7-9) class after finishing ninth at River Ranch, Fla., and Morgantown, N.C., and 13th at Washington, Ga. The remainder of the 2012 GNCC Series includes races in South Carolina, Kentucky, Indiana, West Virginia, Ohio, New York and Tennessee and runs through Nov. 4. Proffitt’s father Eddie said their hope is for Dylan to make a push for the top three.

In more local races, Proffitt is the current leader in Mid-South Cross Country Racing’s Youth Peewee 7-8 division. After winning the first eight races of the 2011-2012 winter season, Proffitt, the Mid-South Hare Scramble Champion, won his first race in the Mini B division and will likely move ahead to the Mini A division. The MSXC season runs thorugh May and will include upcoming races in Greensburg and McEwen, Tenn.

Dylan lives in Gracey with his parents Eddie and Jessica.
