Trigg was set to have a chance at bettering both of those records Tuesday at Lyon County (results unavailable at press time).
Last Tuesday, Trigg was eliminated from the 2nd Region All “A” Classic in a 3-0 loss to Crittenden County. Hunter Allen had a stellar day on the mound for the Wildcats’ pitching a complete game and striking out 14 batters. However, Crittenden managed all three of its runs in the seventh, including two with two outs. Trigg had a pair of runners in scoring position with none out in the first and the bases loaded with one out in the sixth but couldn’t manage any runs.
Monday, the ‘Cats got back on a winning track with a 14-6 victory over Livingston Central. Livingston led 6-5 after scoring a run in the top of the fifth inning before Trigg exploded for eight runs in the bottom of the frame, capped by Allen’s grand slam.
