Sara Jane Ginn Arnett struggled to find ways to help her then three-year-old son Gammon deal with his dad’s deployment.
“While we were preparing for Sam’s second deployment, I started looking online for stuff to help. It was a really emotional time in my child’s life,” she said. “I found a few things online, but I couldn’t find anything tangible that catered to military families.
“I couldn’t see us sitting in front of the computer while mommy pointed at a computer screen. I wanted something my kids could hold in their hands that would help them deal with Sam’s deployment, so I started writing a book.”
A graduate of Trigg County High, Sara Jane always wanted to write, and spent a couple of years working on the project. The book, “My Daddy’s a Soldier,” was released in early April which coincides with Month of the Military Child. Included in the back of the book are Sara Jane’s creative deployment tips for families.
